About Chef Evelyn Enslow
Chef Evelyn Enslow stands as a trailblazer in the Pacific Northwest culinary community. Her crowning achievement was becoming the first female chef to receive the American Academy of Chefs designation in the region—a milestone that broke barriers and opened doors for women in professional cooking.
During her tenure as WSCA Chapter President (1986–1987), Chef Enslow provided visionary leadership and strategic direction for the organization. She worked as an Executive Chef at prestigious venues throughout Washington State, bringing creativity, professionalism, and excellence to every role she held.
Her exceptional contributions to the culinary profession were recognized when she received the Washington State Chef of the Year Award—a distinction honoring her culinary expertise, leadership, and dedication to advancing the craft. Through her work and example, Chef Enslow inspired countless women to pursue careers in the culinary arts and demonstrated that excellence knows no gender.
